Here in the out-of-game shadows, the pain of the sting has healed over.

I opened the morning's headlines with a new light. I read of all those people trying to slip into the fame of total representation. Into any representation. Anything that will make the feeling shine as it did the first time... this heroin needle. Impossible to return to that nectarous Moment. This experience of total power and then emptiness.

The game evolved. Surprisingly, CAPitALLism wasn't totally abandoned. In fact, gamers saw that CAPitALLism could be experienced in a new way far removed from its original in-game/out-of-game struggles. Web statistics still reported high volumes of traffic. Apparently something here was worth keeping.

No more did feverish minds scrape to find The Answer in CAPitALLism. No more did they feel the sensation of a looming apocalypse. In an Unfiction CAPitALLism discussion thread, CorSeri worded it best:



Freed from the wars of in-game and out-of-game mentality, it seemed CAPitALLism now had entertainment value. Time to make time for laughing a little.
